"Fleurs Animees" translates to English "Animated Flowers" or "Flowers Personified". Grandville's work is quite unique in the print world; taking flowers and plants and giving them a personality!  The prints are made from the viewpoint of the flower taking on a real personality, talking to the animals, flowers, and surrounding nature.

Not to be dismissed as a mere childrens book, it is a very large two volume work of hundreds of pages. Granville explains in detail, in French, about the "life" of the particular flower. The whole tone of the book and prints is one that reminds us of Alice in Wonderland and a magical life among nature. These prints are in excellent condition, beautifully hand-colored.

Please inquire if you do not see the print you may need, as we do not display the entire set in our gallery.
